Secrets Unveiled: My Ex-Wife's Transformation

Chapter 1 Divorce

"Are you sure you want to divorce me?"

Sabrina Tucker examined the divorce papers that were handed to her. All the excitement she had felt minutes before vanished instantly.

"Yes. She's coming back."

This year marked her third wedding anniversary with Jordan Ford. She had gone to the market to buy ingredients and prepared a feast. But in return, she was handed a divorce agreement. What a surprise.

"If there's anything you're not satisfied with, you can bring it up."

Jordan towered over her as he observed the docile and kind woman before him with the same dispassionate gaze he used in ruthless business dealings.

Sabrina had her head down and skimmed the paper in front of her. The compensation was generous. He gave her an excellent piece of commercial land, a city villa, and an extra 50 million dollars in cash.

Overall, it was worth at least a billion—enough to keep her comfortable for the rest of her life.

After three years of loveless and sexless marriage, she received a billion dollars as compensation. What more could she want? However, she didn't marry him for money.

After receiving no answer from her, Jordan lit a cigarette and took a long drag before narrowing his eyes and suggesting, "If there's anything you're unhappy about, let me know."

Sabrina looked into his pair of cold eyes and questioned, "Jordan, over these three years, did you ever feel a moment of affection for me?"

"No."

His response was quick and came without hesitation, shattering her last hope. Her heart hurt like a knife stabbed it.

"I see…" Sabrina's eyelids fluttered, hiding the pain in her eyes. But it only lasted a minute before she quickly recovered her sweet grin. "I made your favorite dishes. Will you at least have one last meal with me?"

Jordan scowled and said nothing. Sabrina fought back her tears and served him the food, but his phone rang just as she finished plating everything up.

"Jordan, I'm in pain. Can you please come to the hospital and stay with me?"

Sabrina could hear the soft voice clear as day on the other end of the line as she stood nearby. In an instant, her hands clenched tightly.

"Okay. Be good. I am on my way. What would you like to eat? I'll bring it to you, okay?"

Jordan's voice was the softest she'd ever heard. Her face dropped when she realized this was the difference between love and apathy.

As he was about to leave, Sabrina grabbed the hem of his shirt. Her voice was full of despair as she begged him, "Jordan, please stay and have dinner with me before you go."

"Don't be unreasonable!" He pushed her hand aside and walked away without looking back.

She clenched her hand over her aching heart and let her tears roll down as she couldn't hold them back any longer.

Jordan came to her three years ago and asked her to marry him. She agreed without hesitation since she already had feelings for him.

After the marriage, they treated each other with respect. Sabrina stayed home as a full-time housewife and tended to his every need. Even though he never touched her, she was happy.

Jordan's grandfather passed away half a month ago, and she had accompanied him to the burial. But after that, he was barely home. He had come home tonight to hand her the divorce papers because his true love, Valerie Patterson, had returned.

Sabrina sat in the living room, sulking in despair until her body stiffened. Finally, she stood up and dumped the cold dishes in the garbage with her broken heart.

After taking a shower, she lay on the cold bed. The lingering woody scent of Jordan's perfume kept her up. A sudden notification interrupted the night's stillness.

Thinking it was Jordan, she opened it and saw several pictures sent from an unknown number. The pictures showed Jordan sleeping peacefully while leaning on Valerie's shoulder.

"Sabrina, the person Jordan loves is me. There's no point in clinging to him. Stop humiliating yourself."

Sabrina clutched her phone tightly, her heart bleeding as she looked through the pictures.

She lay in bed until the next morning. Jordan's assistant, Adrian Boyer, walked in with the divorce papers. He hesitated to bring the divorce up after seeing her pale and worn-out face.

"Mrs. Ford, Mr. Ford has asked you to sign the papers. Any request you make will be fulfilled."

Sabrina kept quiet for a long time before taking the pen and signing her name on the papers. She didn't want any of Jordan's compensation and chose to leave with nothing. After all, she didn't marry him for money.

Upon seeing this, Adrian was shocked. "Mrs. Ford, don't you want anything?"

"No."

She took little with her, barely packing a few loose items of clothing before leaving the house they had shared for three years. She had come full of hope but left with nothing but herself.

After leaving their home, she felt a void in her heart as if she no longer had a place to belong. But what was done was done, and life had to continue. She couldn't allow herself to come apart over Jordan. Since he didn't love her, she wouldn't cling to him.

Sabrina pulled out her phone and dialed a number. "Zayn, I'm divorced."

Zayn Golden came swiftly, and his car kicked up dust as he stopped beside Sabrina. "A wise person would stay away from love. Getting a divorce is also a wise decision."

"Enough with the nonsense. Just drive."

Sabrina took out her phone, hacked into the surveillance system, and wiped all evidence of her whereabouts.

She took one final glance at the place she had lived for three years and took off without any remorse.

Chapter 2 Interesting

At the top floor of Ford Corporation, Jordan stared at Adrian, who had just returned. "Has she signed it?"

"Mrs. Ford signed the paper but didn't ask for anything." Then, Adrian handed the contract to him.

Upon hearing this, a flicker of surprise crossed Jordan's handsome face. He hadn't expected Sabrina to have such a resolution. He had thought the divorce would take some time, but knowing she signed it so quickly upset him.

He wondered how she would survive after being a full-time housewife with no career or social life for three years.

When Jordan realized he was concerned for her, he scowled furiously and suppressed his feelings. They were divorced now, and she was no longer his responsibility.

He casually tossed the paper into a drawer before looking up. "Have you found Elsa?"

Adrian replied, "She comes and goes without leaving any trace. It's hard to track her."

"Post a bounty on the dark web. Anyone who can provide information on the miracle doctor Elsa will be rewarded with 100 million dollars."

Three years ago, Valerie had been poisoned by a particularly potent toxin. They had consulted every top doctor in the nation, but none could help. She spent years healing overseas, but her health still deteriorated.

It was said that Elsa was an apprentice of a renowned doctor, nicknamed Miracle Doctor, who had incredible medical abilities that could bring people back from death. As long as she was found, there would be hope for Valerie.

"I'll do that right away."

Meanwhile, Alicia led Sabrina to a mansion. "You'll live here from now on. Any plans for what's next?"

"I haven't thought about it yet."

Zayn placed his phone in front of her. "There's a 100 million dollar reward for your whereabouts. Do you want to take it?"

Sabrina answered with indifference, "Not interested."

"Okay. Just take it easy for now. But remember the work you took last time for the Rowland family in Hornsey? They've been pushing for it lately. When would you like to go?"

"Saturday."

"Sure. I'll let them know."

Afterward, she unloaded a few items, went out to get some necessities, and changed her SIM card. She was completely cutting all ties with her past.

Saturday came swiftly. Zayn accompanied Sabrina to the Rowland residence to treat the elderly woman, Marilyn Rowland.

As they left, they drove past a black Bently. Sabrina looked out the window and saw a man's chiseled profile. She was surprised to see Jordan there.

About half an hour ago, Jordan received news that Elsa would treat Marilyn. So, he and Adrian raced over to catch Elsa since she refused to reveal herself.

When they reached the Rowland residence, they were informed that she had left, and Jordan's face darkened.

However, he remembered the car that had passed by them earlier, and without hesitation, he jumped into the driver's seat and chased after it.

Through the front mirror, Zayn spotted a black Bentley chasing after them. "There's a car behind us. Could that be your ex-husband?"

Sabrina took a peek and saw that it was indeed her merciless ex-husband driving in the driver's seat. Her eyes gleamed as she instructed, "Lose him."

Zayn floored the gas pedal, and the car shot forward like an arrow, speeding down the road.

However, Jordan was persistent. He chased after them like a predator, closing in on its prey and unwilling to let them go. The two cars chased each other for several laps.

Zayn grew frustrated when he failed to shake off Jordan. "Damn! I didn't realize your ex-husband had such mad driving skills! It looks like he won't stop until he catches us!"

Upon hearing this, Sabrina's beautiful eyes widened. "Let me drive the car!"

They swapped seats, and with determination in her eyes, she floored the gas pedal and charged toward Hornsey's infamous Devil's 3030 Curve. The black Bently followed closely, getting nearer and nearer.

When they reached the foot of the mountain, Sabrina suddenly braked. As the Bently closed in, she stepped on the gas.

When she was near the curve, she braked, downshifted, and slid the vehicle around the curve with precision control, then floored the gas pedal in one smooth move.

In a few quick maneuvers, she had left Jordan's car far behind. Then, Sabrina rolled down the window and flashed her slender and delicate middle finger at him.

How arrogant and brash! Jordan narrowed his eyes. Those slender fingers undoubtedly belonged to a woman, but they felt familiar to him.

By the time he reached the curve's end, the woman's car had vanished. Adrian gripped the armrest as his heart raced. It was his first time seeing Jordan lose to a woman. He expected Jordan to be upset, but instead, there was a peculiar grin on Jordan's face.

"Interesting!"

Adrian didn't find that interesting as he had almost died there.

"I don't care what it takes. I want you to learn everything about her."

Jordan wanted her to cure Valerie.

Chapter 3 Crueler Than Him

Back at home, Zayn showed Sabrina the payment of 3 million dollars that had already been deposited.

"The money's been transferred to your account."

Though it wasn't much, the trip hadn't been a loss.

"You really don't want to take that billion-dollar bounty? It's rare to find someone who's foolish and has lots of money. This villa alone cost 40 million when you bought it."

She hadn't worked in years and had focused only on becoming Jordan's ideal wife. Money was running low, and buying this villa had cost her everything. It was time for her to earn some money and enjoy life.

"If there's no danger, I'll accept it. Make sure you do a thorough investigation!"

Zayn understood her intention. Three years ago, Sabrina took a job to help someone who affected someone else's interest, and the other party hired an assassin to kill her. She might've been done for if she hadn't reacted quickly and had Zayn's assistance.

"I got it. I'll set up a meeting with them to figure things out."

After seeing Valerie in the hospital, Jordan unknowingly drove back to Berkton. Looking at the dark mansion, he realized Sabrina had already left.

He sat in the car, lit a cigarette, and quietly smoked it until he finished before pushing the door open and stepping inside.

Jordan couldn't help but recall how she always kept the lights on in the living room and waited for him to come home.

Now that the warmth he had become used to was gone, he felt a little irritated. He went to the wine shelf, poured himself a glass, and gulped it down in one swallow. Then, he dialed her number.

"The number you dialed is no longer in service!" the automatic robotic voice said cheerfully.

Jordan frowned, double-checked the number, and chuckled as he realized something. She was way crueler than him in dealing with things.

She had been kind and accommodating for three years and had a mellow and easygoing personality. Even when he brought up divorce, she seemed heartbroken and unable to let go.

Despite this, she terminated her phone number almost immediately.

Jordan called Adrian and instructed, "Find out where Sabrina went."

The next day, Adrian approached Jordan and reported, "Mr. Ford, I can't find Ms. Tucker."

Sabrina had entered Jordan's life unexpectedly years ago. When he discovered she was an orphan, she instantly became the ideal candidate to keep his family at bay since she had no links and presented no threat. Hence, he wondered where she could be as she was alone.

"Keep looking!" He refused to believe that a person could just vanish from Hornsey.

At that moment, Jordan received a call from the hospital.

"Mr. Ford, Ms. Patterson's toxin has worsened again. She's not conscious but keeps calling your name, wanting to see you. We didn't know what else to do but to call you."

"Tell her I'm on my way." With that, he got up and left quickly.

Three years ago, Jordan was drugged by a nemesis, and out of control, he slept with Valerie. He felt sorry for her since she was a virgin, so he decided to take responsibility.

However, he always felt something was lacking throughout his time with her. On the contrary, he felt more at ease with Sabrina. His eyes hardened as he thought about the missing woman.

Just as Jordan entered the hospital, Sabrina appeared with a cap and mask. She entered the elevator and made a call as she stepped out.

"I'm here. Where are you?"

She followed the directions and soon found herself in the neurosurgeon's department director's office.

"Troy!"

Upon hearing her voice, Troy Walker turned around and hugged her tightly. "You finally showed up. Where have you been in the last three years? I didn't hear a single word from you at all."

"I got married."

"What? To whom?" He couldn't believe the goddess-like woman before him was married.

"Well, I'm actually divorced now," she responded.

Troy's expression turned hard as he swallowed back his intended congratulatory words.

Sabrina acted as if she hadn't noticed his expression and sat on a chair. "So why did you contact me?"

"Mr. Moreno's friend needs surgery and came to see me, but the situation is complicated. He's old, and I'm not confident about it, so I wanted to ask for your help."

He thought it was a long shot since he hadn't heard from her in three years, but he was surprised when he managed to contact her last night.

She arched an eyebrow and asked, "It's been a while since my last surgery. Aren't you concerned that I'll make a mistake and ruin your reputation?"

"If you could mess it up, I definitely wouldn't dare to do the surgery."

"Let me take a look at the scan." Ten minutes later, Sabrina got up. "Set a time and let me know."

Suddenly, she recalled something and said, "Help me find out which room Valerie Patterson is in."

Troy instantly asked, "Who is she? A friend of yours?"

"She's my husband's first love. It's because of her that I was divorced."

Sabrina found the room and saw a woman lying on the hospital bed clad in a blue-and-white striped hospital gown through the glass window.

She had the delicate and fragile appearance that easily aroused a man's protective instinct, but she wasn't particularly striking. To put it bluntly, she wasn't even half as pretty as Sabrina.

Sabrina couldn't help but think that Jordan was dumb and had terrible taste.

She observed him peeling an orange and feeding it to Valerie, speaking to her gently with a grin. Although Jordan had treated her well during their fairly short marriage, there was always a distance between them. She had never seen this kind of genuine tenderness from him.

Not wanting to upset herself further, Sabrina turned and left.

As if sensing something, Jordan suddenly looked up and ran out of the room. He caught a glimpse of a familiar figure disappearing around the corner.

It was Sabrina.

When he reached the corner, he ran into Adrian, who had come to pick him up.

"What's the matter, Mr. Ford?"

Jordan asked seriously," Did you see anyone when you came over?"

Chapter 4 Your Ex-Husband's Mission

Adrian shook his head.

"Did you find her?" Jordan asked. It was obvious who he was asking about.

"No. As for the address Ms. Tucker left behind, the people there said she sold that house three years ago."

Hornsey wasn't large, but finding someone who disappeared without a trace was like searching for a needle in a haystack.

"Useless!" Jordan was upset. "Let's head back to the company."

Once he got inside the car, he called Valerie and informed her that something had come up at the company and that he had to leave. She was understanding about his situation.

After ending the call, Valerie stared at her phone and was lost in her thoughts. She wondered who Jordan saw that made him rush out.

The sound of knocking interrupted her thoughts, and a woman walked in.

"Has Mr. Ford left?"

Yes," Valerie answered. "Why are you here? Didn't I tell you not to come find me?"

"Val, I'm just worried about you."

"I'm fine. I'm so close to marrying him now that Jordan has divorced that woman. If he finds out my mom is a…" Valerie stopped herself before saying the word "mistress".

Martha Roth's face dropped, but she forced a smile and apologized. "I'm sorry that I embarrassed you."

Seeing her this way irritated Valerie more. "That's enough. Just go. Since I didn't go looking for you, you don't come here looking for me either."

When she was abroad, Valerie met Jordan, who mistook her for someone else. Since he was handsome, dressed luxuriously, and rich, she decided to take the credit and admitted she was the lady he had slept with.

For the last three years, she had enjoyed a life of affluence and his love, believing she was about to marry him, only to discover he had abruptly gone home to marry another woman.

Unlike other women who would've thrown a fit or threatened to kill themselves if put in that situation, Valerie had sensibly remained at his side.

She intended to have sex with him to officially become his, but three years ago, she was poisoned. When the poison kicked in, it was brutally painful. The pain was even worse if she tried to have sex.

Martha noticed her displeasure and offered her a bank card. "Call me if you need any help."

The surgery was scheduled for three days later. Sabrina traveled overseas for a few days with the 3 million she received. When she came out of the airport, she called Zayn.

"I'm out here. Where are you?"

She sported a black singlet and a pair of denim shorts that accentuated her slim figure perfectly. She wore a pair of Chanel's newest sunglasses. Her long jet-black hair was done in loose curls, making her seem fashionable and seductive.

Everyone naturally turned to look at her. However, she didn't seem bothered by their stares. Instead, she concentrated on replying to texts.

Zayn stopped the car before her and whistled, saying, "Hey beautiful, do you need a ride?"

"You're such a smooth talker!" Sabrina opened the car door and stooped down to enter.

"Mr. Ford, that woman looks like Ms. Tucker!"

From afar, Adrian, who stood behind Jordan, unconsciously turned his gaze to Sabrina and recognized her figure.

Upon hearing this, Jordan turned his head to where Adrian pointed, and his eyes darkened. "Sabrina!"

After spending three years together, he was confident that, despite only being able to see her back, that woman was none other than Sabrina.

Sabrina's movement froze. She glanced back and met his piercing stare. She lifted her hand to adjust her sunglasses. Her eyes narrowed, and she climbed inside the car without hesitation. In the blink of an eye, the car vanished into heavy traffic.

Jordan instantly moved forward to chase after her, but Adrian stopped him. "Mr. Ford, Ms. Osborn, and the others are about to come out."

With that, he paused and stood still. A cold and stern look spread across his handsome face. He was furious that Sabrina ignored him when she had seen him. It seemed to him that she had grown some guts after the divorce.

Meanwhile, Zayn passed a bottle of water to Sabrina. "Why do you keep running into your clingy ex-husband wherever you go?"

"I wish I had the answer to that." She sipped her water and asked, "I've spent all 3 million. What did you find out on your end?"

"I did some investigation. Take a guess who's behind the bounty."

"Are you playing games with me now?"

Upon hearing this, Zayn became speechless. "It's your ex-husband's mission."

His words took Sabrina aback.

Seeing that she was quiet, he eyed her and asked, "So, what now? Do you want to take it or leave it? If you can cure that woman, you'll get 4 billion."

She couldn't believe Jordan was indeed rich and stupid. If she accepted the mission, she could make 4 billion in total.

Sabrina lowered the car window, took off her sunglasses, and began to toy with them in her hand. The wind blew against her face, her long hair dancing in the breeze. She looked stunningly dominant with her smokey eye makeup.

Despite having known her for so many years, Zayn couldn't help but be impressed whenever he saw her. It was unfortunate that Jordan never appreciated what he had.

"I'll check out the situation tonight before deciding."

Sabrina had no reason to object if Jordan wanted to offer her money. But first, she needed to figure out what type of poison Valerie was suffering from which would make him be willing to pay 4 billion to seek Sabrina's help.

Chapter 5 Silent but Deadly

Sabrina came to the hospital at night wearing a hat and a mask. She headed straight to Troy's office.

"Your outfit is ready." Troy handed her a nurse's uniform without asking what she was about to do.

After she had put on the uniform and was ready to leave, he warned her, "Sabrina, don't let love turn into hatred, and don't act on impulse."

Sabrina rolled her eyes at his words. She wasn't the kind of person who couldn't let go of a relationship.

After leaving Troy's room, she headed straight to Valerie's ward. Walking down the hallway, she casually picked up a basin from a cart. She lowered her head, pushed open the door, and entered the room.

In one swift movement, she injected the prepared medication into Valerie's vein. This made Valerie wince, and she grimaced at the set of unfamiliar eyes. "Who are you?"

She had been at the hospital since her return and knew most of the nurses, so she was certain she had never seen this woman.

But before she could get a response, a wave of dizziness struck her, and she lost consciousness. Sabrina placed her fingers on Valerie's wrist to check her pulse, and a hint of heaviness flashed in her eyes.

She knew this poison all too well. It was the very one she had helped Lester Bradshaw develop years ago.

Anyone who was affected by this poison would be in unbearable pain, unable to enjoy love, and long-term exposure to the poison would result in infertility.

If Sabrina's diagnosis was correct, the poison had been in Valerie's system for three years. Even if Valerie were cured, she would have difficulty conceiving. Only long-term treatment would provide a small possibility of pregnancy.

But she hadn't been in contact with Lester in three years. He had no hatred toward Valerie, so why would he poison her back then? Before she could ponder any more, she heard Jordan's voice from outside.

"How is she today?"

Sabrina's eyes sparked as she sprang out the window like a light and swift cat. The door was then pushed open.

Jordan stepped in, his eyes fixed on the open window. He scowled and instructed Adrian, "Close the window."

"Jordan…"

Valerie awoke slowly. Her face instantly became pallid when she remembered the odd lady who had come before and injected an unknown substance into her body.

"Did I disturb your rest? I happened to be nearby on business and thought I'd come to check on you." He approached her.

She grabbed his sleeve anxiously and stammered, "Jordan, someone is out to kill me. A lady impersonating a nurse injected me with an unknown substance."

Valerie revealed the needle mark on her arm to him. "Do you think it's the same person that poisoned me three years ago? I don't want to die…"

Jordan's expression clouded over. "Adrian, call the doctor."

After an inspection, the doctor stated, "Mr. Ford, Ms. Patterson was only injected with a small amount of sedative. Since the dosage was negligible, it won't cause harm to her body."

Upon hearing this, Valerie breathed a sigh of relief. The poison had afflicted her for three years. Her life would be over if another one was brought into the mix. She hadn't lived long enough and didn't wish to die.

"Jordan, I'm so scared that if I die, I won't be able to be with you," she wailed, her eyes red with deep love and passion for him.

Jordan quickly comforted her. "I won't let you die. You'll be cured once we find the Miracle Doctor."

"Does this Miracle Doctor even exist?"

He had said this several times, but nobody had seen this alleged doctor before. She started to question if such a person existed.

"She managed to cure Mrs. Rowland's decades-long illness. However, by the time we arrived, she had already left. As long as she's in Hornsey, I'll find her."

He softly patted her shoulder and assured her. "Don't worry."

Valerie immediately hugged his waist and leaned against his chest, whispering, "Jordan, I believe you."

In actuality, Sabrina hadn't left. If Jordan looked outside the window, he would have seen her hanging on pipes.

She'd heard every word uttered in the room. Her gorgeous face was expressionless, with a trace of sarcasm curled at the corners of her lips.

That wretched man sure knew how to comfort people. She slid down the pipe and landed firmly on the ground.

After getting inside the car, Zayn asked, "How did it go? Can it be cured?"

"Yes, but I'm not too keen on taking the case."

The poison has been in Valerie's system for three years. To detoxify, she would need six treatments, which meant Sabrina would appear in front of Zayn six times.

"Only a fool would pass up the opportunity to earn money. It's rare to find a dummy like him. Besides, he wasted three years of your life. You should make him pay!

"Wait a minute, didn't you get half of his assets when you divorced him?"

Sabrina would've been a rich lady immediately if she had seized half of Jordan's assets. This way, Zayn could count on her to enjoy the high life.

"To your disappointment, I left with nothing."

She didn't want to contaminate her love with money. If she had accepted Jordan's compensation, it would've gone against her original intentions when they married.

Zayn was surprised to hear this. "That's not like you."

"Tell him I'm taking the case, but I want 50 billion!"

It was only reasonable for her to ask for such a large sum since Jordan was wealthy.

"50 billion?" Zayn gulped and looked at her with adoration. "You're silent but deadly."

She spoke about the amount so casually as if it were nothing.

Chapter 6 Hold On

Zayn logged into the dark web and accepted the mission provided by Jordan. As soon as it was accepted, Adrian immediately received a notification.

"Mr. Ford, someone has taken up the task we posted on the dark web!" Adrian quickly reported the good news.

Jordan grabbed the phone and opened the chat window to contact the other party. "Do you know where Elsa is?"

"Since I've accepted the task, I know where she is. I've already contacted the Miracle Doctor and she's willing to treat the patient, but as for the price…"

"The price is negotiable, as long as she can cure the patient."

"Good! I won't beat around the bush with you then. The Miracle Doctor said it would be 50 billion dollars. Not a cent less. If you've decided, transfer it to this number: 1X…"

Jordan narrowed his eyes, deep in thought. 50 billion dollars was quite a demand.

He handed the phone back to Adrian, whose eyes widened after seeing the requested amount. "Mr. Ford, she's asking for 50 billion dollars? This woman must be crazy for money!"

The price was tens of times greater than expected. It was daylight robbery.

"Call me tomorrow. The price is fine!"

It seemed the other party wanted money, and it just so happened that Jordan had plenty. However, whether they could take it remained to be seen.

"I mentioned the price you quoted. Jordan didn't reply immediately, most likely because he was considering his options.

"I don't think he seems to care about his first love at all since he still hesitates over 50 billion with a net worth of hundreds of billions."

"Stop with the remarks. I'm hungry. Go make some food for me."

Zayn gestured at himself and asked, "Me?"

"You expect me to cook for you after earning a billion dollars?"

He rubbed his nose awkwardly and smiled. "Alright. Go take a bath and relax. I'll call you when it's ready. If you need a back scrub or massage, just let me know, and I'll be there right away!"

"With the way you switch up your attitude so quickly, you should've been an actor. Staying with me will be a waste of your talents!" She chuckled.

The following morning, Sabrina was startled awake by a series of urgent knocks on the door.

"Stop knocking, or I'll chop your hands off!"

She opened the door with a face full of irritation and saw Zayn standing outside, looking excited. "Do you have any idea how important beauty sleep is for a woman? Aren't you afraid of getting struck by lightning for disturbing someone else's sleep?"

"Sabrina, Jordan agreed. Half of the deposit has already been received."

The phone showed a message that 25 billion had been transmitted 10 minutes earlier. That amount seemed like a veiled insult from Jordan. She should've asked for 60 billion dollars.

"Did you mention my conditions?"

"I did. They disagreed at first, and I said if they disagreed with it, then the woman would die. So, they eventually agreed."

Sabrina's only requirement was to cure Valerie alone, and she refused to meet anyone else. Given Jordan's perceptiveness, he would easily recognize her. Hence, the best way to avoid that was not to meet him.

She raised a hand to cover her mouth as she yawned, her eyes glancing at the still-excited Zayn, and remarked, "I'm going back to sleep. Don't disturb me again."

"Alright. What do you want to eat? I'll cook for you."

Now that he was a millionaire, he needed to look after his golden goose.

"I want milk and sandwiches with extra cheese."

"Alright, I'll—"

Before Zayn could finish his words, the door slammed shut with a loud bang and almost hit his sharp nose. He stroked his nose, relieved that his handsome face wasn't hit.

When Sabrina woke again, it was an hour later. Warm sunlight streamed through the windows, casting a soft golden light across the bed, warm and gentle.

She washed up and headed downstairs. The living room was quiet, and Zayn was nowhere to be found. She called out but received no response. The breakfast he had made was left on the warming plate.

"Where did you go?" she asked while eating.

"I'm out buying you some cosmetics."

"You know how to please me."

"Of course! If I don't do something, my conscience can't take the billion dollars."

Sabrina was left speechless by his words.

"Your ex-husband's assistant phoned me earlier. Apparently, Jordan wants to talk to you alone to discuss Valerie's condition. What do you think?"

"I'm busy."

"Alright. I'll tell them that."

Sabrina most likely would cancel the deal if she had to discuss Valerie's condition with him. If it weren't for the money, she wouldn't want any contact with Jordan. She had already paid the price for being blinded by love and wasting three years on a man.

At the Ford Corporation's headquarters, Jordan sat in a huge leather chair and listened to Adrian's report. His fingers lightly tapped on the desk, and a slight, frigid grin pulled on the corner of his lips.

"Adrian, you've become less competent. You can't even find a person. I'm thinking whether I should look for someone more competent to replace you."

Upon hearing this, Adrian was speechless. "Mr. Ford, I've not been slacking. But no matter how hard I try, I can't find Ms. Tucker's whereabouts. It's as if someone's deliberately covering her tracks."

Otherwise, it was impossible that he couldn't find Sabrina in Hornsey.

"You're full of excuses! She's an orphan with no parents or money. Who would help her? And why would anybody want to hide her tracks?"

Adrian felt bitter but kept quiet. He was afraid that anything he said would be seen as an excuse, and he didn't want to push his luck.

"Let's set it aside for now. What's the current situation with the Miracle Doctor?"

Chapter 7 Familiar Figure

"They said Elsa was too busy and refused any direct contact. If there's anything, you'd need to go through her assistant."

They didn't show Jordan even the slightest bit of courtesy. Jordan was held in the highest regard in Hornsey, yet she disregarded him like that.

Jordan dropped his gaze. "Did they mention when the treatment will start?"

"Next Wednesday. They instructed you to bring Ms. Patterson to Grace Garden Estate for private treatment."

"Is it a one-on-one treatment?"

"Yes. That's her condition. She won't see anyone except the patient," Adrian answered.

"I've asked Mr. Rowland about it, and he said that the Miracle Doctor always wears a hat and a veil during treatments. The only information known about her is that she's a young woman."

"Oh? How can they know she's young if they've never seen her."

"Based on the skin of her hands and the sound of her voice."

Jordan chuckled. "She's quite mysterious. How much did the Rowland family pay?"

"3 million dollars."

The Rowland family paid 3 million, but when it got to him, the price increased to 5 billion dollars. They were outright scamming him.

He signaled Adrian over and leaned forward to whisper something into his ears. Adrian was shocked but nodded.

"Mr. Ford, I looked into the hospital's surveillance system. When Ms. Patterson was injected with the sedative, the footage was mysteriously deleted from the server.

"I tried to recover it with the help of an expert, but they were intercepted. A virus was remotely implanted, and it nearly crashed the computer. I suspect that Ms. Patterson's guess is correct."

The person who injected her with sedatives was most likely the same person who poisoned Valerie years ago.

However, Jordan couldn't understand what the person's motive would be in harming Valerie when she was just a simple girl.

That evening, Sabrina sat by the floor-to-ceiling window with her laptop in front of her as she was on a video call.

A man lounged casually on the sofa. His dark shirt was unbuttoned at the top, revealing a hint of his muscular chest. He held a cigar between his lips, and his handsome, slightly wicked face carried an air of indifference.

"Briana, it's been a while. How's married life treating you?"

"Why bother asking when you already know?" Sabrina then arched an eyebrow and asked, "Why did you poison Valerie Patterson?"

"Do I need a reason to poison someone? I just don't like her."

Smoke swirled as Lester spoke. When he smirked, his bold and attractive demeanor intensified.

"She didn't do anything to you. Isn't poisoning her a little too excessive? The toxin has been in her system for three years. Even if I detoxify her, without continued therapy, she may never be able to have children."

"Isn't it better that your ex-husband's line ends with him?"

Upon hearing his words, Sabrina was left speechless.

"What's the matter? You can't bear to see him in pain?" Lester took a deep drag of his cigar. "I really don't get what you see in that man. You have poor taste and judgment."

"Lester!"

"I can't believe you're getting upset after just a couple of comments." His eyes darkened as he continued, "You were prepared to live an average life for him. The least he could do throughout your marriage was refrain from cheating, right?"

He had initially planned to poison Jordan but couldn't find the opportunity. So, he opted to poison Valerie instead.

Sabrina felt conflicted as she met Lester's gaze."Lester…"

"Don't thank me because I don't want to hear it. If you're really moved, please consider me. To be honest, I'm not any worse than him."

She wondered how the topic got off course. With a yawn, she announced, "I'm exhausted. I'll go to rest now since I have surgery to perform tomorrow."

Before Lester could respond, she had already hung up on him. He chuckled and put out his cigar as the video call ended.

On the day of the surgery, Sabrina got up early. After dressing neatly, she called Troy.

"The surgery is ready. The scrubs are in locker 122 in the changing room. Come over straight and wait at the back door of the operating room."

"Alright."

Half an hour later, Sabrina arrived at the hospital. As she exited the elevator and walked toward the operating room, she suddenly sensed something and stopped in her tracks.

She tilted her head slightly, and her gaze narrowed. It seemed as if she was being followed.

A cold glint flashed in her eyes as she quickened her pace and slipped into the stairwell at the corner. Moments later, she saw Jordan's figure appear in sight.

Jordan had dropped by the hospital to visit Valerie. As he left her room, he noticed a figure that looked remarkably like Sabrina and instinctively followed it, but he seemed to lose her. He was surprised that the lady was so alert.

This was the opposite of Sabrina's personality. She was gentle, slow to react, and a little naive. He wondered if he had been mistaken.

"Mr. Ford, I've brought Ms. Patterson the chicken pot pie she wanted." Adrian approached with a bag of food.

Jordan glanced away indifferently and walked off.

At the same time, Sabrina exited from the stairway and dashed to the surgery room. After a quick change, she headed to the backdoor and saw Troy waiting for her.

With a nod of acknowledgment, she entered the room. The patient had already been sedated and was unconscious.

Sabrina performed the surgery as the lead surgeon, with Troy assisting her. The two worked in perfect harmony.

Meanwhile, Jordan returned to Valerie's ward and handed her the pie. He couldn't shake the feeling that the familiar figure he had seen wasn't a mistake.

"Jordan, the pie tastes amazing. Do you want to try some?" Valerie took a bite and found it delicious. So, she wanted to share it with him.

"I've already eaten. You enjoy it while I make a phone call." With that, he left the room and instructed Adrian in a low voice, "Go to the surveillance room."

Chapter 8 The Rear-End Collision

Jordan had been with Sabrina for three years, 1,095 days. He could mold her likeness from memory alone even if she turned to ashes.

After receiving his call, the director attended to Jordan in the hospital's surveillance room. Jordan donated medical equipment to the hospital every year as part of his charitable efforts.

"Mr. Ford, we've pulled up the surveillance footage. Who are you looking for?" the director asked carefully.

Jordan shot him a cold glance, and the director immediately fell silent, knowing better than to ask further. He began reviewing the footage, his gaze fixed on the screen intensely.

Soon, a woman dressed in casual clothes and wearing a baseball cap appeared. Despite the loose clothing, her graceful figure was unmistakable.

Who else could it be but Sabrina? But why was she at the hospital? Her figure soon disappeared around a corner.

"What about the surveillance in that corridor?" Jordan asked in a low voice.

The director explained, "Mr. Ford, that area is part of a new surgical wing. The surveillance system hasn't been fully installed yet—"

"Adrian, go find her," Jordan ordered while turning away.

The surgical wing was restricted to doctors and the relatives of patients. Sabrina had no one to rely on. Who could she be visiting?

"Mr. Ford, why don't you wait in my office for a bit?" the director suggested. "I recently got some excellent tea. Let me brew a cup for you."

...

After the surgery, Sabrina quickly sutured the wound. Her movements were fluid and precise. Even Troy, who was a renowned genius in neurosurgery, was amazed.

"I'm in awe every time I watch you work," he complimented.

"You're exaggerating," Sabrina replied modestly while removing her gloves and tossing them into the trash before slipping off her surgical gown.

"I ran into my ex-husband when I arrived. He might have recognized me. Is there a quick way out of here?" she asked.

"Are you afraid of your ex-husband?" Troy raised an eyebrow. His fearless junior actually had someone she was wary of? He was curious to meet this person.

"He doesn't know my true identity. I don't want him to find out," she explained.

Troy pointed her to a route that would let her leave the hospital quickly while avoiding the cameras. After Sabrina left, Troy opened the door to the operating room and was surprised to see who was standing outside.

"Director, what brings you here?" he asked in confusion.

"Who was assisting you with the surgery just now?" the director asked.

Troy responded calmly, "It was my assistant. The surgery was a success."

"But Mr. Walker..." The assistant emerged from the side, on the verge of tears.

Jordan glanced at Adrian. Adrian entered the operating room, but it was empty.

"Mr. Ford, there's no one here."

Jordan's gaze shifted to the scholarly man in the white coat. "Is there anything you'd like to explain?"

The director tugged at Troy's sleeve and whispered, "That's Mr. Ford."

Troy shrugged and stared at Jordan without fear. "The surgery was a success. If you have evidence that I violated hospital regulations, I'm ready to face the consequences."

Jordan sneered and walked out.

"Mr. Ford, there's no trace of Ms. Tucker in any of the surveillance footage, nor any sign of her leaving through the main entrance," Adrian reported.

Jordan's expression darkened.

"Jordan..." A soft, weak voice called from behind.

It was Valerie. She had overheard Adrian mention Sabrina's name. Hadn't she and Jordan already divorced? Why was Jordan looking for her? Could it be...

A thought crossed her mind, causing a brief moment of panic. Her legs gave way, and she began to collapse like a willow in the wind.

Jordan frowned and quickly stepped forward, catching her in his arms effortlessly.

"Why did you come out when you're so weak?" he asked in a tone tinged with concern.

"I hadn't seen you for a while and thought you might have left, so I came to look for you. A nurse mentioned seeing you head this way, so..." She clung to his arm, her eyelashes fluttering slightly. "Jordan, are you looking for someone?"

Jordan didn't answer and instead carried her back to her hospital room. "Rest well. I'll take you to see Miracle Doctor on Wednesday."

Valerie's heart leaped with joy. "Really? Did you find the doctor? Can she cure the poison in my body?"

"Yes. She's accepted the deposit and promised to treat you."

...

Sabrina exited the hospital and got into a car parked by the curb.

"Did you see a ghost or something?" Zayn asked.

Thinking of Jordan, she replied calmly, "Something like that."

Being investigated by him was more terrifying than a ghost. There was no telling when he might uncover her identity.

Zayn handed her a bottle of water, and she twisted it open before taking a sip.

"I forgot to ask, what kind of poison did your ex-husband's first love get hit with?" he inquired.

"Soulhooking poison," she answered.

"Isn't that the poison you developed?" Zayn was stunned. "Did someone use your creation to poison Valerie? Isn't this like handing you money on a silver platter? So, who's the generous benefactor?"

"Lester."

"That lunatic?" Zayn was shocked. "Why would he do that?"

"You ask too many questions. Drive," Sabrina said before closing her eyes and leaning back in the passenger seat.

It had been years since she performed surgery, and standing in one position for several hours made her neck feel like it was about to snap.

As Zayn started driving, a loud crash suddenly interrupted the silence.

"Bang!"

The car jerked forward, thrown off balance by the impact. Fortunately, Zayn reacted quickly, slamming on the brakes and bringing the car to a halt.

Sabrina's sharp eyes snapped open. "What happened?"
